    Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Plant Operator to join our Ashland Performance Materials business at our Lima, OH location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Manufacturing function. This position will report to the Team Lead.


    The responsibilities of the position include:

    • Safe and Environmentally Responsible Operation of process equipment to manufacture chemical products.
    • Utilization of a Distributed Control System to monitor and adjust the process.
    • Identify, diagnose and troubleshoot process and equipment issues.
    • Perform light maintenance and prepare equipment to enable others to safely perform maintenance.
    • Perform routine analyses of process streams using laboratory equipment.
    • Safe product loading of tank wagons and railcars.
    • Effective communication, both oral and written, with team members and others to describe unit conditions and observed situations.
    • Compliance with operating procedures, quality management, and safety and environmental procedures.
    • Ability to respond to emergency situations within the limits of training and qualifications

    **This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.


    In order to be qualified for this role an individual must possess the following:

    • A minimum of a high school diploma
    • The ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
    • The ability to work a 12 hour rotating shift schedule to staff a 24-7 operation.
    • A willingness to work overtime on a regular basis as business needs dictate.
    • The ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.

    The following skill sets are preferred:

    • A minimum of 3 years experience in an operating environment.
    • A minimum of 2 years experience with good attendance and performance.
    • Ability to coach and be coached.
    • Innovative, flexible, self-starting, customer focused, honest and open.
    • Ability to work as a member of an integrated team.
