    Ashland, LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance and Engineering Manager to join our Ashland Specialty Ingredients business at our Hopewell, VA site. This position will report to the Plant Manager.

    Description

    The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

     

    • Support a strong safety culture in the organization by contributing leadership and management skills for EHS responsibilities.
    • Lead, develop, and challenge the project engineering and maintenance team to improve work processes, process reliability, technology advancement and support continuous improvement.
    • Lead project development, planning, communication, and execution to achieve time, cost, and result targets based on KPI’s set forth by corporate and site leadership.
    • Manage/control maintenance costs and capital project portfolio to achieve targeted results.
    • Manage the preparation and execution of Capital or Major Maintenance projects focused on safety, quality, operating cost, productivity, optimization and customer expectations.
    • Facilitate/collaborate with other functions to insure project/maintenance objectives are aligned with division and plant objectives.
    • Assess, select, and ensure external contractors performance in safety and quality of work meet or exceed our standards when contracted for project and service requirements.
    • Oversee the proper maintenance of the site production areas to include environmental systems to ensure we are operating efficiently and to our environmental commitments and requirements.
    • Lead the optimization of maintenance practices and procedures to achieve cost-effective results, including efficient planning and scheduling and high-quality execution of work with a focus on safety, timely repair and precision installation techniques
    • Work with maintenance and project teams to develop continuous improvement strategies and improve efficiency
    • Oversee site Reliability Engineering Processes using the 6 WSRO for Reliability (precision maintenance, planning and scheduling, pressure vessels & tanks, pressure relief device, essential care and condition monitoring, lubrication) ensuring proper technical training and development is completed and use of the technical learnings are implemented
    • Manage improvement of key performance indicators including Asset Management, Schedule Attainment, Break-In Work and department budget cost effectiveness.
    • Perform root cause analysis, where appropriate, on asset failures and implement identified actions to improve manufacturing reliability.
    • Oversee the development and support of maintenance workforce skills sets to improve performance and preparedness for future needs.
    • Utilize Lean Management approach to interact and understand the maintenance workforce from a floor level view
    • Develop and mentor highly skilled and diverse direct reports
    • Be a committed team member for the Site Leadership Team

    **This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

    Qualifications

    In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

    • BS Engineering
    • 10+ Years – Broad Background in Plant Operations, including supervisory/management roles in mechanical and/or electrical functions
    • 3+ years’ experience - Project/Construction Management to include cost analysis, design and installation
    • 3+ years’ experience - Plant Reliability/Predictive Maintenance
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications, and organizational skills

    The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

    • Experience operating in a large complex site within an organized labor environment
    • Experience/knowledge of electrical and controls systems is desired.
    • Registered Professional Engineer in Virginia preferred
    • Experience/knowledge of plant Environmental Systems
    • Working practical knowledge of energy systems (steam, electrical, water, compressed air etc.
    • Ability to implement sustainable improvements by influence essential
    • Academic training in business management & ability to lead financial analysis
    • Experience in business development including preparation of qualification and proposal packages
