    Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Sales Account Manager to join our Composites business, focused on chemical sales.  This position would be home based but preference to the mid-west, or south east.  This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Sales function. This position will report to NA Sales Director.

    Description

    The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

    •  Build strong relationships at all levels within the organization and the Customers organizations
    • Prospect new Customers and influence choices for supplier
    • Establish and maintain major account relationships
    • Meet personal sales targets and business unit profit targets for the product line
    • Implement process improvement initiatives

     

    Important characteristics, skills and experiences for this position include:

    • Excellent communication skills & strong leadership skills
    • Demonstrated capability of strategic account management in a chemical sales environment
    • Ability to negotiate and build effective relationships
    • Good working knowledge of financial management, manufacturing processes, supply chain, inventory management, and EH&S programs
    • Proven characteristics of: self-motivator, enthusiastic, time management, and action orientated
    • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SalesForce.com

    **This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

    Qualifications

     In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

    •  Bachelor of Science preferred
    • 7-10 years of experience within chemicals, solvents or other industrial materials industry
    • Willing to travel with up to 50% overnight travel required
    • Must be eligible to work in the US.

    The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

    •  4 year degree required, master’s degree desired
    • 5-10 years of sales and territory management experience
    • Proven track record of growth in a competitive environment
    • Strong business acumen
    • Strong value selling skills
