    Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Safety, Health, Security & Environmental Manager to join our Ashland LLC business at our Calvert City, KY location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Safety and Environmental function. This position will report to the Plant Manager.


    The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Partner with plant management and employees to help Ashland achieve its mission and goals while protecting people and the environment and ensuring site and global compliance
    • Primarily responsible for leading Safety, Health & Security systems and processes
    • Steward a culture of safety excellence to meet external commitments and develop and implement effective systems and programs
    • Create and foster an employee inclusive safety and responsible culture
    • Monitor and ensure regulatory compliance
    • Be the primary communications contact to Corporate for all Safety and Environmental information
    • Provide leadership and management to the Safety and Environmental staffs



    In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

    • A minimum of ten years of industrial safety and regulatory experience in a manufacturing facility of which five years must be in the chemical industry
    • BS or BA degree in Industrial Safety or other related degree.
    • Certified Safety professional (CSP)
    • PSM experience required
    • Possess a working knowledge of Environmental regulations: Clean Air Act (i.e. NSPS, NESHAPS, MACT), Clean Water Act (i.e. NPDES Permitting and DMR sampling & reporting) and Hazardous waste management
    • Demonstrated skill in project management tools and methods to successfully manage and implement several projects and initiatives simultaneously
    • Knowledge of and ability to effectively utilize methods and tools to conduct risk assessments, root cause analysis, identify corrective actions and process hazard analysis to improve site and employee safety
    • Demonstrate a problem-solving approach when faced with challenging or difficult situations; Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; Probes all fruitful sources for answers; Can see hidden problems; Excels at honest analysis; Looks beyond the obvious and doesn't stop at the first answers


    The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

    • Prior management or supervisory experience
    • Emergency response experience preferred
    • Experience working with regulatory agencies preferred
