    Ashland has an exciting opportunity for Senior Account Manager to join our Performance Additives Intermediates and Solvents Business. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the sales function. The position will ideally be located in Houston Texas and will report to the NA sales Director.

    Description

    The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Manage Western Region sales territory to meet or exceed targets, including but not limited to: account management, contract/price negotiation, pricing management, call reporting, forecasting, new business development, distribution management.
    • Interface with internal departments to resolve customer issues i.e. customer service, quality, product stewardship, logistics, etc.
    • Provide call reports, market data, competitive intelligence, industry development/trends to business team on regular basis.
    • Develop expertise in key business tools: SFDC, business tables, expense reporting, etc.
    • Travel up to 50% of time

    **This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

    Qualifications

    To be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

    • A minimum of 15 year’s experience in technical sales
    • Bachelor of Science (BS) preferred in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related technical degree, MBA desired but not mandatory
    • Employment experience in the Chemical Industry
    • Sales experience doing direct sales and channel selling of commodity and/or specialty products
    • Sales territory management including forecasting, planning and prioritization
    • Eagerness & willingness to prospect and close new accounts
    • Self-starter
    • Enthusiastic team player with demonstrated success in strategic/value added selling
    • Excellent presentation skills
    • Strong technical, engineering, organizational, administrative, analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong computer skills required, specifically in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access)
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills
