    Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Utilities First Line Leader to join our Ashland Specialty Ingredients business at our Calvert City, KY location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Manufacturing function. This position will report to the Utilities Manager.

    Description

    The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Provide positive leadership and coaching to operators on shift to achieve safe, compliant and efficient operations
      • Communicate daily goals & priorities to Operators and provide tools, knowledge and support to achieve them
      • Communicate frequently with Day Staff in order to address the issues/obstacles to achieve them
      • Ensure that all units are covered with appropriate manpower at all times, by issuing weekly OT schedule and communicating daily changes
      • Perform preliminary Accident/incident investigations, issue ITMS reports, corrective actions and lessons learned
    • Troubleshoot processes and equipment
      • Apply knowledge of unit processes
      • Use process and operating manuals, and work closely with operators
    • Facilitate maintenance activities
      • Work with operators to assure equipment is prepared for maintenance and that jobs are complete
      • Establish R&M priority based on production needs and equipment integrity
      • Issue work orders and permits and follow to completion
      • Serve as site maintenance coordinator for the site during nights and weekends
    • Function as liaison between support groups and Utilities
      • Coordinate material and supplies movements by working with operators and materials
      • Participate in Safety/Environment Audits and follow-up on issues by writing Work Orders and/or Communicating to Operators/Day Staff to achieve completion
    • Participate in Process Improvements
      • Participant in NWG meetings whenever possible, as a member or leader
    • Participate in Project scope discussions, P&ID reviews, maintenance job plans, PSSR’s, etc
    • Support safety culture improvement efforts through direct participation and/or facilitation of department members’ participation
    • Issue daily report and participate in the follow-up discussions

    Qualifications

    In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

    • Three to five years industrial supervisor experience desired
    • Demonstrated positive leadership and coaching skills with a cooperative “can-do” attitude
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize; reliable and responsible to work independently
    • Ability to identify critical issues and formulate action plans
    • Develop and foster a positive work environment at all levels
    • Resolve conflicts through problem resolution skills
