    Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Manager to join our Specialty Ingredients G.P., business at our Texas City, TX location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Manufacturing function. This position will report to the Director, Manufacturing Continuous Improvement.


    The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for leading the Lean-Six Sigma implementation at the Texas City site.  This position will identify, assess, facilitate and execute Lean and Six Sigma projects to deliver sustainable bottom line savings.  The leader will work to drive the continuous improvement culture throughout the business. This position will develop extensive process expertise and will be a process improvement resource for the Texas City site as well as other locations. 


    The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:


    • Help identify and prioritize continuous improvement opportunities in all areas of the plant.
    • Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma tools and methods.
    • Teach and coach others in the organization on lean thinking, methods and tools.
    • Maintain and review overall plant lean metrics to insure the plant continues to improve.
    • Transfer best practices learned in one area to all other applicable areas.
    • Assist other Ashland facilities with Lean improvement efforts when possible and practical.
    • Travel to assist in transferring knowledge to other locations.
    • Consult with the Operations Manager and other Production department staff to establish annual departmental goals and objectives for the site’s production areas.
    • Utilize the appropriate process improvement methodologies or statistical methods to solve operational problems, improve process capability and efficiency, and enhance product quality.
    • Coordinate and/or participate on quality and process improvement teams throughout the plant in all functional groups.


    **This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.


    In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Statistics, Computers or related fields and/or related experience plus education.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, highly motivated, goal oriented strong team player.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Continuous improvement and or lean/six sigma experience
