    Ashland LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Product Development Scientist to join our BioMaterials group at our Ossining, NY. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Zeta Fraction function. This position will report to the R&D Group Leader.


    The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Directly accountable for in vitro cellular- and molecular-based bioassay test of Zeta Fractions™ for biological activities in supporting new product development
    • Development of Zeta Fraction technology relevant biological characterization assays, qualification and validation, and strong collaboration with external testing labs and key customers
    • Responsible for experimental design, execution, data review and analysis/interpretation, document authorship, and report of results to supervisor, internal management and external customers
    • Generates and thoroughly documents results, and maintains instrumentation in a GMP-compliant environment
    • Inspires innovation and operational excellence and fosters a continuous learning environment



    In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

    • MS in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or equivalent field with at least 2-3 years’ experience working in consumer products or biotech industry, or BS with at least 4-5 years’ relevant experience
    • Direct experience with cell- and molecular-based in vitro assays and screening of bio-actives using automated liquid handler
    • Experience with skin biology, plant biology, computer programming, pharmaceutical science, microscopy, formulation and product development is advantageous
    • Evidence of independent scientific aptitude and a strong track record of scientific accomplishment through publications, presentations and patents


    The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

    • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, innovative and creative in solving problems aligned with critical path objectives and delivering high-quality research results on schedule
    • Expertise in in vitro cellular- and molecular-based bioassays that are highly translational and have an impact on new product development
    • Must have expertise with standard molecular techniques, ELISA systems, protease assays, RT-qPCR, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, especially primary cell 2D culture and 3D equivalent models and assays, and screening of bio-actives using automated liquid handler such as Tecan Freedom EVO
    • Expertise in data analysis and presentation software: MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Word, GraphPad Prism or Sigma Plot
    • Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills to clearly articulate complex concepts and strategies is a must
    • Experience in writing of technical reports, patent applications, scientific publications
    • Hands-on experience in the following areas would be preferred: anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, skin aging/barrier/pigmentation, sun care, haircare, formulation, and product development
    • Knowledge of laboratory safety and clinical laboratories regulations (GLP, GMP, ISO)
    • Ability to manage external study activities and collaborators
