    Ashland LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Chemist to join our Speciality Ingredients group at our Columbus, OH location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Building and Construction Adhesives R&D group.




     The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:


    • Design, develop and commercialize innovative products to meet customer needs and application requirements
    • Work with multi-functional teams such as scientists, technical service representatives, marketing, sales, and manufacturing personnel
    • Self-starter with strong initiatives, and be able to provide strong leadership skills managing project time-lines and resources 
    • Build strong customer relationships by understanding customer’s needs and application details, and creating innovative solutions to solve customer unmet needs
    • Provide strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills to the projects including the ability to recognize the critical issues and gaps, and to develop effective solutions to technical roadblocks
    • Provide strong project management skills and have the ability to create project plans, manage critical pathways, and prioritize and manage multiple assignments
    • Build and maintain good working relationships with customers, suppliers, vendors and university/industry partners to support project objectives
    • Demonstrated a strong track records of new product development and commercial success
    • Demonstrated subject matter expertise
    • Strong problem solving and technical ability
    • Strong project management skills
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Strong communication skills: written, oral and presentation
    • Thorough understanding of structure-property relationship of polyurethane chemistry for adhesive applications


     **This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.




    In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

    • Masters of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Polymer/Materials science or related discipline. Ph.D. is preferred
    • Industry experience in polyurethane adhesive development and applications
    • Demonstrated track record of new product development and commercialization and working with customers to understand their needs and application process
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
    • A scientific approach to problem solving is essential
