    Ashland LLC has an exciting opportunity for an Electrician/Instrumentation Mechanic to join our Manufacturing group at our Composites plant located in Jacksonville, AR. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Manufacturing function.

    Description

    The Electrician/Instrumentation Mechanic is responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance and repair of all facility instrumentation and electrical components, utilities and chemical processing equipment, including but not limited to: valves, transmitters, motors, VFD’s, MCC, DCS, and PLC components. The successful candidate must have prior experience in a chemical or industrial environment. Can safely and effectively troubleshoot, repair and calibrate designated equipment, take appropriate actions, complete work orders, document findings and provide appropriate feedback. The successful candidate will perform preventive maintenance tasks on electrical, instrument, and mechanical equipment and help identify and implement reliability improvements. Must understand and comply with OHSA, NFPA and NEC Standards and company policies and procedures. Prior mechanical experience is preferred. 

     

    General Duties (May include but are not limited to):

    • Run Conduit & install electrical equipment in accordance with National Electric Codes
    • Troubleshoot & repair electrical & instrumentation problems
    • Program & Troubleshoot PLC’s
    • Maintain Tankage Instrument Loops, Scales, Measurement systems
    • Install screwed, flanged & compression-fitting piping & tubing
    • Rebuild plant gear, centrifugal and diaphragm pumps
    • Repack & Rebuild valves and agitators
    • Maintain Boilers, plant steam and utility systems
    • Work on hazardous waste piping, tankage and Oxidizer systems
    • Dispose of all hazardous & contaminated refuse per plant procedures
    • Maintain proper housekeeping to insure a safe work environment
    • Operate computerized preventive maintenance systems
    • Operate & maintain water treatment system
    • Weld steel & stainless piping
    • Perform pipe leak tests per Ashland Specification
    • Work around rotating equipment safely
    • Other Duties as assigned by Supervision

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    Minimum requirements - Must meet at least ONE of the following criteria:

    • Successful applicants must either have a Journeyman’s Certificate in a related capacity (Approved by Jacksonville Supervision).
    • Completion of an accredited vocational technical training program as an electrician/instrument technician and minimum 5 years’ experience in the chemical or related industries.
    • Equivalent industry experience as an electrician/instrument technician or Maintenance Mechanic may be considered.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Lifting 50 lbs.
    • Handling 540 lb. oil drums with aid of drum dolly
    • Walking entire plant site (2 acres) & multiple levels (using stairs & ladders)
    • Continuous standing for max of 4 hours
    • Read Instruments, hazardous information, charts and operating instructions
    • Must be able to discern various color tests
    • Activities may require frequent bending, crouching, kneeling and work at elevated levels.

    Successful candidates will have the following:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Must be willing to work overtime, shutdowns, and call-ins, as required
    • Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the position.
    • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions
    • Must be willing to learn other general mechanical maintenance tasks/duties (e.g. boiler operation, general pump troubleshooting and maintenance, piping systems, miscellaneous preventive maintenance tasks, etc.)
    • Must be able to read and understand P&ID and electrical diagrams and other complex electrical drawings and manuals
    • Must be proficient in troubleshooting 120-volt AC and 4-20ma controls, 480-volt motors and switch gear and loop controlled systems
    • Must have strong instrumentation experience
    • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States
