Ashland LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Planner to join our Specialty Chemicals plant located in Hopewell, VA. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager.

 

The Ashland Hopewell site is a specialty chemicals plant with a heavy emphasis on chemistry.  We produce a variety of cellulose-based chemicals in 5 distinct operating plants.  Our varied products are used by a broad range of other industries including Paint & Coatings, Food, Pharmaceutical, Energy, and Construction.  This broad base provides many opportunities for growth.  On the Hopewell plant, there are many of the classic unit operations.  This includes Reactions, Distillation, Separations, Drying, and Grinding.

 

Description

This Position will be responsible for providing professional planning and scheduling of maintenance tasks for all production and support areas with minimum impact on production activities. The position will be responsible for coordinating major equipment work, contract work, maintenance scheduling, with a focus on capital projects and predictive and preventative maintenance.  This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Develop detailed job plans including all labor, materials, tools, safety precautions and requirements, and work procedures for repairs, alterations, and preventative maintenance for the facility and all types of equipment. Interact/provide a Leadership role with various team members and vendors to maintain effective working relationships. Responsible for short and long term scheduling to ensure these objectives are met.
  • Identify appropriate PM requirements and maintaining CMMS with up to date tasks and frequency data
  • Coordinate appropriate resource planning and scheduling including required labor, subcontractors, materials and tools to support maintenance and project activities
  • Manage and maintain the workflow process including work identification, planning, scheduling, execution, and auditing.
  • Review, set-up if required, and maintain all preventive maintenance work orders in the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) including establishing/reviewing job plans and task work order frequency.
  • Operate within existing safety guidelines.

 

**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

Qualifications

Preferred Knowledge - Skills – Abilities:

 

  • Strong applied knowledge in general maintenance and basic electrical knowledge
  • Experience utilizing a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software)
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high intensity environment
  • Demonstrated people and leadership skills with track record of achieving positive business results
  • Knowledge of and experience in mechanical reliability programs
  • Basic auto-cad experience
  • Must be able to use precision measuring devices, such as micrometer, calipers and squares. 

 Physical Demands:  

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, climb stairs and ladders

Basic Qualifications 

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience to include a minimum:
    • BS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or Engineering Technology Degrees OR
    • High School Diploma / GED Equivalent with 5 years experience in facilities maintenance scheduling in an industrial setting, plus 3 years experience as General Mechanic
  • Ability to work within Microsoft Office products- Excel; Word; Outlook
