The position of HR Coordinator – Benefits is an important role in the effective and successful administration of Ashland’s Global Benefits (active and retirees). Specifically, this role will focus on assisting with the administration of the Ashland Absence Management and Life Insurance Programs and assisting with the administration of the Global Mobility Program. This role will also monitor/audit all Benefit SOC-1 controls.  Will also assist Manager, Global Benefits with various benefit -related tasks. 


Global Benefits

  • Absence – Responsible for responding to all Absence mailbox employee inquiries. Stay abreast of all leaves by assisting Benefits Specialist to ensure employees’ benefit coverage does not lapse.
  • Responsible for Benefit Postings/Communications for Bridgewater campus.
  • Administer Life Insurance program including active death claims and Evidence of Insurability process/ inquiries.
  • Audit Benefit SOC-1 controls.
  • Assist with coordination of wellness initiatives for the Bridgewater location.
  • Canada Benefits administration: payment of invoices including the ISP retiree medical/life renewals, monthly funding of SERP, taxable income and benefit premium calculations and annual payment to Mancuso (per agreement).
  • Process certain benefit invoices; Wageworks, VSP, Express Scripts, Delta Dental and Liberty Mutual (Retiree Life and Self-Insured LTD).
  • Download weekly medical Anthem claims information for Benefits Consultant – Actives and Retirees
  • Assist Manager, Global Benefits with miscellaneous benefit-related tasks (NDT corrective action, mailings, etc.).

Tuition Reimbursement

  • Work with vendor and/or IT on any technical issues accessing Tuition Reimbursement website
  • Review/facilitate acceptance into program
  • Maintain/update tuition reimbursement policy & process documentation
  • Request employee reimbursements through Payroll
  • Answer any program or system questions

Global Mobility Program

  • Assist with data collection
  • Assist with invoicing
  • Assist with Initial policy counseling and determination of needs of transferring employee and family.
  • System set-up and maintenance of all data and expenses.
  • Assist with policy communication and follow-up with transferee during entire process.
  • Set up all moving, travel and housing needs.

**This position is located in Bridgewater, NJ.


  • Must be authorized to work in th U.S.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
  • Bachelor degree in human resources, business, finance, or related field is a plus. 
  • 2-3 years of experience working in U.S. benefits (including but not limited to STD, FMLA, and LTD) required. 
  • Experience with Tuition Reimbursement and Global Mobility program administration is highly preferred. 
  • Knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, DOL, and IRS regulations and state laws is required. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, View Look-up, etc) required.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Broad knowledge in U.S. benefits and Global Mobility
  • Basic knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skill with ability to communicate at various levels of the organization to a wide variety of audiences
  • Results orientation: consistently delivers on commitments, takes initiative, has a bias toward action, and a sense of urgency
