    Ashland is seeking a Staff Scientist to join our Pharmaceuticals team in Wilmington, DE. If you have experience in pharmaceutical solid-dosage, injectable product/process development and manufacturing, we would like to talk with you!


    Area of Responsibility (business specifics):

    1. Lead and execute new product development, customer technical service and contract research projects to support pharmaceutical business growth
    2. Design technical programs to advance pharmaceutical formulations and processes using Ashland pharmaceutical excipient technologies.  Review, revise and issue experimental protocols and final reports
    3. Coordinate activities with project leaders, R&D teams, and team members from other functions to ensure the delivery of quality results in a timely manner
    4. Generate and maintain documentation required by projects and pharmaceutical operations including batch records, SOPs, protocols, etc. Evaluate data and documentation from project trials and testing, and prepare reports summarizing the R&D activities
    5. Provide technical review of marketing literature and presentations
    6. Support trainings to Ashland global sales and technical teams as well as customers
    7. Present research findings at major technical conferences and journals
    8. Provide technical support to North America and global accounts 

    **This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

    **This position is located in Wilmington, DE.


    Desired Candidate Skills/Experience:

    1. Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution with 1-5 years of experience in pharmaceutical solid-dosage, injectable product/process development and manufacturing. M.S. degree with 5 + years’ experience is also acceptable.
    2. Thorough knowledge on oral solid and parenteral dosage forms.
    3. Experience with biologic formulations and characterization, and working experience with PLGA is highly desirable
    4. Extensive hands-on experience with formulation processes and formulation technologies
    5. Demonstrate good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
    6. Ability to successfully manage multiple activities and adapt to rapid changes in priorities to achieve company and departmental objectives.
    7. Working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), Microsoft Office Suite, and statistical analysis.
    8. Time management
    9. Ability to work under pressure
