Ashland is hiring for a Construction Coordinator in Calvert City! The primary purpose of this position within the Ashland Calvert City organization is to oversee all aspects in the construction management of assigned capital projects for the Calvert City plant site.  Most of the construction management duties will be for projects in excess of $1MM that are engineered by either the Corporate Engineering Group or the local Project Engineering Department.   The position entails all management duties toward the safe and timely construction of new capital assets within the facility.


The duties and responsibilities of the Construction Coordinator shall include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Monitor construction activities on a daily basis to ensure compliance with all Safe Work Practices, Codes, and contract documentation.
  • Monitor construction to ensure drawings and specifications are adhered to per the design.
  • Provide field assistance to project managers for items including suitable tie-in locations, isometric and schematic sketches of existing pipe and electrical systems, etc.
  • Review all bid documents (Scope of Work, P&IDs, piping, electrical, mechanical, civil, and loop drawings) for completeness and accuracy.
  • Conduct contractor pre-bid meetings as well as start-of-work and progress meetings with the contractors.
  • Provide timely updates of work progress and issues with the responsible Project Managers.
  • Plan/coordinate contractor and maintenance activities with Production to ensure projects are completed in a safe and expeditious fashion.
  • Manage and write Field Change Orders as required.
  • Provide oversight and assistance for start-up.

**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.



  • College Degree in Technical Field with a minimum of 3 years experience in design and/or construction management OR High School Graduate with minimum 5 years experience in design and/or construction management required
  • Electrical/Instrumentation experience a plus
  • Effective oral and written communication skills essential for working with contractors, engineers, and design firms.
  • Individual must be self-motivated and have the work ethic to be self-directed.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.



Work is performed 75% of the time in a chemical operating area including elevated platforms. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, reach, demonstrate manual dexterity, talk, hear and see. The incumbent may occasionally be required to lift light to moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. Individual may also be required to operate a Company vehicle on Company business.


The incumbent will be required to utilize and wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required to perform his/her duties within the manufacturing area including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety foot wear, respirator, FRC Clothing and other PPE as determined to protect the individual.  The incumbent must have demonstrated commitment to zero incidents and injuries in the workplace and beyond.
