Overview

Ashland in Calvert City, is recruiting for a Shift Lead  that provides on shift leadership for chemical and packaging operators (12hour shift) to ensure the shifts meet production schedules in a safe and environmentally compliant manner. Additionally, this individual plays the key role in coaching, supporting and leading the operators in a team-based high performance work organization environment, to achieve safe and efficient operations while focusing on quality, equipment reliability, and other cost issues.

Description

REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide proactive leadership of chemical and packaging operators (12/shift) to achieve safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
  • Learn production area logistics and unit operations for the assumption of ownership regarding area/plant performance
  • Troubleshoot processes and equipment.
  • Achieve shift priorities of safety, production, yield, and first pass quality goals.
  • Provide positive performance coaching and communication with hourly employees.
  • Function as a liaison between departments, i.e. other production areas, maintenance, laboratory, engineering, etc.
  • Coordinate raw material and intermediate product movements.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities including the issuance of Hazardous Work Permits

 

**This position is located in Calvert City, KY.

**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.  

Qualifications

  • Must have High School diploma.
  • Minimum of 5 years industrial plant operating experience required in the chemical industry.
  • Prior supervisory experience highly desired.
  • Must be able to work any shift
  • Demonstrated positive leadership and coaching skills with a cooperative “can-do” attitude.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have good technical/ mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Successful candidate will be required to attend “first line leader” development training.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
