Ashland has an opportunity for a Logistics Analyst to join our Supply Chain team!


Responsibilities include:

  • Manage Ashland’s leased railcar fleet (approximately 300 railcars and $3M annual cost), including acquiring necessary railcars and working with 3PL provider to track and maintain them, creating purchase orders for all rail expenses and auditing/processing vendor invoices.
  • Purchase North American rail freight transportation services (approximately $11M annual spend and 1.5K annual shipments), including rate negotiations with the railroads, providing rail rate quotes and industry expertise to internal users, maintaining rail rates in the Transportation Management System (TMS), and processing balance due rail invoices.
  • Provide inventory control for designated 3PL warehouses (approximately 12 total locations and $10M annual spend, 450M lbs. stored), including allocations, blocks, invoicing, stock transfer orders, reclassifications, inbound/outbound receipts, daily inventory/order status adjustments, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Lead cycle counts as required, including associated quarterly reporting and all discrepancy investigations and support inventory disposal activities (approximately 2M lbs in 2017 and $550K disposal spend).
  • Record and investigate warehousing related complaints (AIRS/QIM), process warehouse invoices, and potentially audit 3PL warehouses for process compliance.
  • Provide TMS load planning support to designated facilities, including selecting carriers, consolidating, tendering, and expediting shipments, and estimating transportation costs.

**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

**This position is located in Dublin, OH.


  • Logistics background required, primarily in transportation (preferably, but not required, with rail transportation) and warehousing
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
  • SAP and TMS experience preferred
  • Hazardous Material & Dangerous Goods experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize; reliable and responsible to work independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • College degree preferred
