Overview

Ashland is seeking a Manager of Quality & Process Improvement to join our team. In this role, you will maintain overall Quality Management Systems (QMS) at the plant.

**This position is located in Parlin, NJ.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain product test procedures.
  • Provide management and technical oversight to the Parlin Quality Laboratory.
  • Supervise the technicians and operators performing in-process and product release testing.
  • This also includes technician and operator training.
  • Ensure that the plant remains certified under the ISO 9001:2008 standard and manage our transition to the new 2015 version.
  • Supervise a staff of six laboratory technicians.
  • Be able to perform all testing if needed (training will be provided on tests candidate is unfamiliar with)
  • Schedule and coordinate internal and external audits.
  • Promote laboratory safety and awareness.
  • Overseeing all raw materials, intermediates, and finished products meet the required specifications. Ensure materials are appropriately tested and results reported.
  • Provide technical assistance and problem solving for customer issues.
  • Report monthly plant metrics

**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or closely related discipline required
  • Minimum of 5 years laboratory experience is required, preferably working in a plant environment.
  • The incumbent must be well-versed in Quality systems (e.g. ISO 9001:2008) and must have some working experience with analytical instrumentation used in product testing.
  • A working knowledge of computers associated with instruments and stand-alone applications is preferred.
  • Must have strong supervisory skills, be an effective communicator (both written and verbal), and have the ability to interface well with employees at all levels.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Knowledge with Cosmetic and/or Pharmaceutical GMPs/Regulations is a plus.
  • Prior experience working in a Union environment is a plus.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US.
