Ashland is seeking to hire an Industry Sales Representative for the Performance Specialties and Energy market segments.  


In this position you will be responsible for developing / managing / growing business with assigned accounts in North America along with development of new accounts within assigned territory.


Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong Planning and Tactical Execution Skills - Ability to create competitive sales strategies as well as develop and execute against a corresponding tactical plan which results in exceeding annual sales targets.
  • Strong communications skills, high energy / self-starter, with a good understanding of the sales process. Good business acumen skills.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with customers at different organizational levels.
  • Able to interact and communicate consistently with your supervisor and the North America sales and technical service teams to keep team informed of business, technical developments, and competitive dynamics.
  • Able to align to tactical plans supporting strategies for each business segment.
  • Able to adjust quickly and comfortably to changing tactics as consequence of market dynamics and Ashland initiatives.
  • Organized and experienced in use of web based CRM tools such as to keep track of important activities at assigned accounts. Normal competency in Windows based systems and software are required.

**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.


  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the specialty chemicals industry in technical sales, customer service or business/sales support is required. Other backgrounds such as technical service/formulating/R&D with desire to work in a sales role will be considered.
  • Experience dealing/formulating/managing specialty chemicals used in inks and printing, paper, specialty coatings, civil engineering, oil & gas is a plus, such as having a BS degree in a technical field such as Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
  • Experience dealing with customers in the specialty chemicals industry is also a plus.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US. 
  • Position location is flexible with preference for the East Coast. Demonstrated ability to work from home and remotely as needed.
  • Travel of 50-75% is required for this position.
