Ashland is seeking a Regional Safety Program Manager to join our team!

Description

 

The Regional Safety Program Manager is responsible for providing leadership, support and expertise to drive Ashland's safe and compliant operations.

  • Providing leadership and subject matter expertise (SME) in driving the company's efforts around safe, compliant and responsible operations. A main emphasis on programs and processes designed to reduce the company’s overall risks and drive safety performance results to ZERO.
  • Developing and maintaining the structure and content of the company programs and providing overall direction and objectives for implementation
  • Communicating results / issues / health of the programs
  • Participating on compliance audits and maintaining auditing and self-assessment protocols for designated SME areas
  • Acts as the main point of contact for multiple facilities regarding all Safety and Health functions and lead the efforts to reduce the overall risks and drive to ZERO.
  • Identifies areas needed for development. Recommends training programs, procedures and processes to support EHS strategic and tactical plans. Carries out implementation of training programs and plans.
  • Expected to have ready answers to technical questions. Establish a skill area. Applies technical knowledge to negotiate regulatory compliance.
  • Manage safety related regulatory and internal standard interpretations.
  • Manage Responsible Care activities related to safety and health related standards.
  • Other program management responsibilities as assigned

**This position is located in Bridgewater, NJ.

**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

Qualifications

  • BS or BA degree in Industrial Safety or other related technical degree required
  • A minimum of five to eight years of industrial safety and regulatory experience in a manufacturing, chemical, or refinery setting required
  • Experience in managing safety/ health programs in the chemical manufacturing industry - facility experience required; corporate-level experience preferred
  • Safety certification (e.g. CSP, CIH, CRSP, CHSP, RSP) or ability to obtain within 12 months required
  • Emergency response experience
  • Experience working in a chemical plant (EHS/Maintenance Supervisor/Production Supervisor)
  • Demonstrated experience/ expertise in developing & implementing safety compliance programs across multiple facilities and regions
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards.
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean Certification (preferred)
  • Ability to travel 50% required
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
