Ashland LLC has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a EH&S Manager at our composites plant located in Los Angeles, CA

 

 

Description

Duties include but not restricted to:

  • Write and maintain procedures and work instructions related to Emergency Operations, EH&S and regulatory requirements.
  • Chair or Co-Chair employee safety committee meetings.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of EH&S incidents. Lead safety initiatives, JSAs, JSOs. Administer employee EH&S Near Miss program.
  • Monitoring of pollution control equipment. Coordinate fugitive emissions program. Site lead for SCAQMD requirements and permits.
  • Site lead to ensure compliance with Highly Regulated Chemicals. (CWC).
  • Site lead for Fire protection and loss prevention (CUPA), including preparation of submittals to regulatory agencies.
  • Develop EH&S training and programs for continuous improvement in EH&S performance. Coordinate EH&S training requirements.
  • Site lead for PSM / RC 14001 Management systems /certification and audits.
  • Maintain compliance with water related compliance requirements (waste water, storm water SPCC,) including any regulatory reporting to government agencies.
  • Participate and lead in site PSM Programs.
  • Create, lead and maintain site health and safety programs.
  • Site contact for remediation activities, sampling, inspections and reporting.
  • Site lead to ensure compliance with Hazard Communication requirements including: SDS, postings, markings and signs, training.
  • Maintain safety equipment (PPE) inventory, control and purchase site safety equipment including safety glasses and safety footwear
  • Maintain site Emergency Preparedness Master Plan (EPMP), organize and implement drills
  • Maintain training records for EH&S and non-EH&S items
  • Maintain Hazardous Waste records including copies of waste manifests and hazardous waste generation volumes
  • Manage site first aid program, documentation and first aid training
  • Management of the site Respirator Protection plan, including administration of respirator fit testing and respirator questionnaires
  • Site lead for employee fitness for work assessments, including drug testing and

**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical field., engineering degree preferred.
  • Candidates with a CIH or CSP designation require a minimum 2 years of experience in an industrial environment. Candidates without a CIH or CSP designation require a minimum 7 years’ experience in an industrial environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, highly motivated, goal oriented strong team player.
  • Experience creating and administrating safety programs
  • Physical requirements include, but are not limited to wearing respiratory equipment in accordance with the Ashland Respiratory Protection Plan.
  • Requires minimal supervision.
  • Experience writing procedures and work instructions.
