Ashland LLC has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Mechanical Testing Lab Technician.

**This position is in Dublin, OH.

Do you want to become a part of a team that measures the physical properties of plastics, composites, and adhesives used in the automotive, marine, and construction industries that utilize Ashland resins?  This position involves measuring mechanical (stiffness and strength) and impact properties of these materials to support R&D, technical service, and customer specifications.  A portion (approximately 20%) of the job will involve preparing test specimens from molded samples using band saws, diamond saws, routers, and surface grinders.  Extensive training is provided on the safe operation of the cutting room equipment.  The employee will then test these prepared specimens by using Instron Mechanical testers in tensile, flex, shear, and/or compression to measure the modulus (stiffness) and strength.   Again, extensive training is provided on the safe operation of this testing equipment.   Additional testing involves impact, heat deflection temperature, density, and water absorption.  The employee will enter data into a computer Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).  He or She will also interact with R&D, Tech Service, and Sales personnel within Ashland LLC.

**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

  • This position requires either a two-year technology degree or a four-year science degree (e.g., biology, chemistry, material science, etc.).
