This is a full-time Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering position, based in Columbus (Dublin), Ohio or Wilmington, Delaware, and will support design and implementation of capital projects. Job level and salary to be commensurate with relevant skills and experience of the successful candidate. This job involves approximately 25% domestic and international travel. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
The ability to support multiple capital projects simultaneously is required as well as the ability to assist manufacturing facilities apply innovation for new and current operations. This includes the upgrade and expansion of existing facilities, as well as integration of acquired facilities. Must have the proven ability to design, specify, and start-up new equipment and systems.
This successful candidate will prepare project scope packages and formal engineering design packages for the power distribution, instrumentation, and automation components of capital projects. Also included is the development of E&I and controls equipment standards, specifications, and procedures; participation in risk assessments, layers of protection analyses (LOPAs); and design of functional safety systems (SIS). Additionally, this individual will execute area hazard classification, arc flash, and short circuit coordination studies; and prepare reports or other engineering deliverables documenting relevant results. The successful candidate may coordinate small teams of professionals, select, supervise or monitor contract service personnel, and implement innovative solutions to improve current manufacturing technology.
A BS or MS in Electrical Engineering is required along with 8-12+ years of E&I design experience in the chemical or heavy manufacturing industries. Experience with all applicable U.S. codes (e.g. the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, NFPA 497, NFPA 499) and design standards is required, with knowledge of other global codes/standards (e.g. IEC, GB) a plus. Field experience in performance testing (FAT, SAT), commissioning, troubleshooting and startup activities required. Experience with design and installation of process controls systems (both PLCs and DCSs) a plus. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required. International experience in Asia-Pacific, Europe or South America is also a plus.
