Overview

The global Measurement Science team is part of the Ashland’s Global R&D organization and operates a Materials Science laboratory within the Bridgewater, NJ R&D complex.  As a researcher at our Bridgewater, NJ facility, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for characterizing developmental materials, formulations, and their interaction with various application substrates.

The successful candidate must be able to apply fundamental knowledge in the physical/biophysical chemistry of complex systems and substrates relevant to the Personal and Home Care industries.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: optical spectroscopy, spectral imaging, colloid science, or mechanical property analysis applied to synthetic and biologically based polymer systems.

Description

Responsibilities Include:

  • Act as a researcher in the Materials Science team:
    • Be a key member of a safety conscious, high performance work environment
    • Collaborate with synthetic and formulation chemists to help guide material and formulation design to achieve target performance traits in fully formulated products
    • Develop key insights to drive innovative product development and use
    • Interface with internal and external technical personnel as a technical expert in Materials Science as applied to the Personal and Home Care industry.
  • Cultivate technical excellence within the Materials Science team to support ASI’s growth strategy
  • Utilize various instrumental techniques to support R&D product development efforts

**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

**This position is located in Bridgewater, NJ.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in a relevant area of Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Physics
  • Degree candidates with 0-5 years of industrial experience are encouraged to apply. Additional experience is desirable.
  • A record of successful technical achievement
  • Competency in physical chemistry
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

  • Ability to analyze complex systems from a fundamental perspective
  • Results oriented with strong team oriented interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a matrix organization
