Overview

Ashland is searching for an experienced Instrument Reliability Engineer to join our team in Calvert City, KY.

 

The primary purpose of this position within the Ashland Calvert City organization is to provide the technical leadership/management and problem solving solutions to the ITPM/ PdM (Preventive/ Predictive Maintenance) programs, ISO and cGMP maintenance requirements and programs to ensure cost effective compliance of all ITPM/PdM activities with regulatory, quality, and Corporate Asset Integrity guidelines.

 

 

This includes providing technical leadership to the site’s ITPM craft crews and working closely with other groups as the Process Engineering Controls Group, Quality, Safety and each Operating Area Reliability Engineer to support achievement of Site and Asset Integrity Goals, Objectives and Key Performance metrics. Provide technical leadership to ensure that the maintenance ITPM/PdM activities are cost effective and productive.

Description

The duties and responsibilities of the Reliability Instrument Engineer shall include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Review compliance of ITPM/PdM activities with corporate, regulatory, site and Quality requirements, standards, and procedures.
  • Provide technical Engineering support to the hourly craft crews as ISO, ITPM, and Analytical to correct inspection/calibration procedures, installations, and improvement of the present programs in place.
  • Provide technical support to instrumentation improvement projects involving plant critical process instrumentation.
  • Review instrumentation installation drawings, data sheets and specifications, in full compliance with recognized industry standards, safety and quality standards.
  • Design, development of new and/or upgrade of present instrumentation including the specification of industrial instrumentation and the material to support installation.
  • Develop maintenance procedures and correct calibration frequencies of all ITPM’s for all instrumentation, controls, and scales and include in the site CMMS.
  • Maintains information and calibrations records for test and measurement equipment.
  • Reviews site MOC’s for correct instrumentation and conformance to Ashland std’s for changes and project work
  • Evaluates and implements new instrument technologies. Develops plan for instrument upgrade projects.
  • Participate in customer and internal Quality and Safety audits.
  • Coordinate with contractor on Scale inspection frequency, repair, and record keeping.
  • Perform routine review and update of applicable CCOP forms.

 

**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience required.
  • 7 yrs+ experience in a chemical process plant environment with at least 3 -5 years in Equipment Reliability required.
  • ITPM/pdM, ISO ,and cGMP preferred
  • Experience with CMMS/Maximo highly preferred
  • Familiarity with electronic and analytical instrumentation used to measure and control, flow, temperature, pressure, level, and analytical propertied of fluids.
  • Past experience working in a union setting working along with craft workers required
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills, and function as a team player
  • Must be eligible to work in US

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Work is performed 75% of the time in a chemical operating area including elevated platforms. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, reach, demonstrate manual dexterity, talk, hear and see. The incumbent may occasionally be required to lift light to moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. Individual may also be required to operate a Company vehicle on Company business.

 

The incumbent will be required to utilize and wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required to perform his/her duties within the manufacturing area including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety foot wear, respirator, FRC Clothing and other PPE as determined to protect the individual.  The Reliability Engineer must have demonstrated commitment to zero incidents and injuries in the workplace and beyond.

 

The incumbent must possess ability to remain calm during site emergencies and respond appropriately as directed by the Ashland Site Emergency Director. Must be capable of evacuating the manufacturing process areas in a timely manner should an emergency arise.

 

The incumbent must be able and willing to work extended hours at a 24 hour, 365 day operation.

 

Incumbent must have demonstrated productivity and effectiveness in teamwork environment and must have demonstrated competency and willingness to adapt to change.
