Ashland is seeking a Key Account Manager to join our team. 


Candidate will have responsibility for several large Key Accounts such as Johnson & Johnson globally, the US operations of L’Oréal in support of the Global Account leader based in France, and several tier 2 type accounts, either direct manufacturers or key regional contract manufacturers.  The territory will be in the range of $7MM - $10MM, but could expand based on account additions that may be considered based on the skill set or industry contacts that the candidate may possess.

  • Strong emphasis on R&D project development at the customer level
  • Must have the ability to acquire a thorough understanding of customer needs and requirements
  • Must have strong account management and relationship building skills
  • Must be a collaborative and proactive partner to customers and colleagues
  • Must have a proven sales record and the ability to succeed in a technical and relationship driven business
  • Must have a great passion for selling and winning in a team environment
  • Must have proven ability in problem-solving and strategic negotiation
  • Must have personality traits that include integrity, tenacity, perseverance, empathy, and a can-do, positive attitude
  • Must be highly self-motivated and be able to work independently (after proper training)
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude in building relationships across all organizational levels
  • Must be able to write business plans and prepare progress reports for internal and external stakeholders

This position will be based out of Bridgewater, NJ.


  • 7-10 years selling experience required, focus on personal care highly desired, including 3-5 years selling to large multinational accounts
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
  • BS in technical field, chemistry, or biology required
  • MBA preferred
  • Must be able to travel 50-60% of time, based on location of individual and account list
