Ashland is seeking a Shift Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic to join our team.

 

**This position is in Parlin, NJ

 

Description

The Shift Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance and repair of all facility mechanical components, utilities and chemical processing equipment, including but not limited to: pumps, mixers, seals, piping systems, valves, boilers, chiller, cooling tower, dust collector, hoists. The successful candidate must have prior experience in a chemical or industrial environment. They must be able to safely and effectively troubleshoot, repair and maintain designated equipment, take appropriate actions, complete work orders and inspection reports, document findings, and provide appropriate feedback. The successful candidate will perform preventive maintenance tasks on mechanical equipment and help identify and implement reliability improvements. Must understand and comply with OHSA standards and company policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • Must have completed an approved millwright or machinist apprenticeship program and reached journeyman status and worked in an industrial type setting.  Equivalent experience and skills would be accepted in lieu of Journeyman status.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years’ experience in an industrial type setting such as a chemical plant, refinery, etc. preferred.
  • Commitment to safety as demonstrated by experience in leading or participating in company safety committees or other safety related activities is highly desired.
  • This individual will preferably have verifiable experience performing maintenance work on rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, and gear boxes and general process equipment.
  • Working knowledge of laser alignment is desired.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and navigate basic computer functions required.
  • Willingness to participate in continuing improvement activities is desired.
  • Ability to work shifts, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Applicant must be authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to work outside as needed all year round.
  • Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time while repairing equipment.
  • Must have the ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
  • Must have the ability to lift, move, push, pull position and carry tools and materials as needed.
