Ashland  in Calvert City is hiring for a Instrumentation Engineer. Great Opportunity to utilize your skills!

This position will design, plan, research, evaluate, and test various process instrumentation wiring systems and associated DCS control systems wiring.  This position is also responsible for hands on trouble shooting and problem solving of short term issues.  Responsibilities include interpreting and enforcing industry related codes and standards as well as involvement in design, certification and testing of site Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS, per IEC 61511).  Also, as site nuclear Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), this position is responsible for complying with federal and state regulations for site nuclear based instrumentation.  This position will also be responsible for estimating, submitting, and executing capital projects, as well as support site and corporate engineering groups with the instrumentation and electrical portion of other capital projects.


**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

**This position is located in Calvert City, KY.


Skills & Abilities:

  • Project estimating and management skills
  • Knowledge of 24 VDC and 120-480 VAC instrumentation systems and circuits
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation and analyzers
  • Familiar with industry standard codes (i.e. IEC61511, NFPA, NEC, NRC, etc.)
  • Experience with Honeywell DCS and Rockwell PLC systems
  • Able to create and edit loop/schematic drawings in AutoCAD
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosis skills for industrial instrumentation and controls
  • Familiar with safety rated systems and SIL calculations
  • Knowledge of electrical hazardous area classifications
  • Ability to apply rational and logical, data based problem solving processes, project management skills and statistical quality improvement methods.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in oral and written form from groups of managers, employees, and customers.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Mechanical or Electrical engineering bachelor degree with 5+ years manufacturing experience or 10+ years instrument and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Strong instrumentation knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge of 24 VDC and 120-480 VAC instrumentation systems and circuits required
  • Autocad design experience required
  • Experience with Honeywell DCS and Rockwell PLC systems preferred
  • Demonstrated effective people leadership abilities in a Union environment.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US
