Ashland LLC has an immediate opening for a Lab Technician at our plant located in Texas City, TX.


Schedule is Monday-Friday 2:45pm-10:45pm

Accountable for performing and documenting routine laboratory operations in accordance with published procedures. Conduct physical and chemical testing such as analyzing raw materials, process materials and finished products.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (list major responsibilities in order of importance) 

  • Works with the Quality Assurance Department to ensure department and company goals are achieved and products manufactured at Ashland’s Texas City site meet the quality standards required by our customers, ISO, cGMPs and other regulatory requirements.
  • Performs laboratory tests by:



color measurements

anions by IC



refractive index


purity by gas chromatograph


impurities by HPLC

other tests as required


  • Maintains detailed legible and neat records of analytical work performed in log books, forms, documents and computer entries.
  • Performs and documents daily and weekly calibration checks, stability checks, system suitability tests of instruments and conduct calculations according to policies and procedures.
  • Records and validates data in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Prepares and standardize solutions as needed to assure solutions are within expiration date.
  • Reports results, difficulties or abnormalities to appropriate personnel and enters data in appropriate data system when required.
  • Compares analytical tests and calculations with published specifications and reports results.
  • Properly stores and labels all chemicals, solutions, and solvents in designated safe storage areas.
  • Maintains continuous good housekeeping practices, clean work and break areas, disposes samples as needed, and cleans glassware.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.


  • Candidate must have the ability to remain calm during site emergencies and respond appropriately as directed by Site Emergency management.
  • Must be capable of evacuating the manufacturing process areas in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
  • In a laboratory setting, the candidate must be able to walk and stand continuously performing assigned duties. Normal duties may require turning, stooping, kneeling, and carrying containers with materials or product samples weighing up to 60 pounds. 
  • Color vision and depth perception are required to properly perform testing.



POSITION REQUIREMENTS (qualifications necessary for entry into this position)

  • A minimum of three (3) years of analytical laboratory experience is required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related discipline.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and capable of performing wet test methods, qualitative and quantitative measurements, and wastewater analysis.
  • Must be capable of performing GC, HPLC, UV-Vis, infrared spectroscopy, autoviscometry, autotitrators, and FTIR testing.
  • Individual must also have the ability to work independently, complete lab assignments in a timely and efficient manner and able to interact effectively with other site employees.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
