Ashland is seeking a Material Coordinator to join our team at our facility located in Pittsburgh, PA.


**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience. 



This incumbent is primarily responsible for:

  • Making sure that raw material needs for the Polyester Plant are maintained to meet daily requirements by keeping minimum inventory on site to reach cash flow goals using SAP.
  • Works as back up shipper for plants 97 and 98, which requires HAZMAT certification for DOT and IATA. 
  • Shipping and receiving of Terminal Materials for BASF.
  • Administrative and Purchasing Functions as needed.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Place orders for raw materials and schedules carriers for deliveries.
  • Assists and backs up Supervisors Plant Administrator position as needed.
  • Responsible for completing Return Material Authorizations and entering them into SAP
  • Responsible for filing freight claims for damaged or lost drums with carriers
  • Responsible for handling site IT requirement assistance as need from Corp IT requests.
  • Is back up shipper for plants 97 and 98 (Is therefore Qualified in all aspects of Hazardous Materials Shipment)
  • Must assist in maintaining proper inventory levels for plant 97.
  • Handles shipment of Hazardous Waste from the Neville Island site
  • Handles Terminal receipts/shipments
  • Participates in the required cycle count for plant 98.
  • Enters PO's and handles Purchasing as needed.
  • Enters Maintenance Work orders and Work Order Documentation as needed.
  • Payroll functions as needed.
  • At all times, follow all aspects of Responsible Care and security for the facility.

  • High School Diploma required
  • A basic understanding of Microsoft Office / Lotus Notes/ Excel
  • SAP applications and familiarity with inventory procedures is highly desired
  • Minimum of 1 year of relavent experience in a manufacturing environment is required
  • Knowledge and understanding of plant IT systems.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
