Description

The Electrician / Instrument Technician plays a key role in the manufacturing of Ashland’s Natrosol product. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs:  wiring circuits, transformers, motors, protective devices, switches, control devices, alarm systems, and lighting system equipment. Engineering is typically prepared for non-routine installation.
  • Maintains, tests, repairs, and services:  generators, transfer switches, and appurtenant equipment from environments ranging to General Purpose to Class I, Div. I.
  • Installs, tests, calibrates, maintains, and repairs:  electronic process control systems and components, data acquisitions systems (DAS), including flow measurements, level measurement, process control systems and instrumentation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and alarm systems.
  • Works with engineering to specify or recommend equipment, designs for equipment, process control, and data acquisition systems; occasionally inspects and tests components installed by contractors to verify functionality.
  • Fulfills “on-call” requirements for a 7-day consecutive period on a rotating basis as required. Responds to emergency calls and works overtime as required. Normal schedule is Monday to Friday day shift.
  • Completes paperwork as needed for cost reports and work logs.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus technical course work in electronics/instrumentation
• Journeyman certification highly desired; will consider applicants with significant directly relevant work experience
• Minimum of FOUR (4) years industrial experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, instrumentation and control systems with Journeyman;  applicants without Journeyman certification must have a minimum of 8 – 10 years to be considered.
• Must be self-motivated, hardworking, professional, team oriented, and take pride in exceeding expectations.
• Must be able to work any shift as needed.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
