Overview

Regional Buyer /Procurement Specialist

 

We are currently seeking energetic and detail oriented candidate to fill a full-time employment position at our corporate office in Wilmington, DE.

 This position will support purchasing of indirect goods and services and reports to the Director of Procurement under Indirect Purchasing Department. It also oversees various assigned commodities and responsible for securing contracts through collaborated effort with suppliers, corporate risk, and corporate legal.  Key measurement is to ensure low cost and timely supply of product and services to support our manufacturing operations across the U.S.

Description

  • Responsibilities under this position include:
  • Ensuring all purchasing services are met for the assigned Ashland plants, labs, and/or facilities
  • Initiating cost-out projects to help meet department Price Improvement Opportunity target
  • Conducting bid analysis and awarding business based on internal team consensus
  • Cost negotiation/validation and timely approval of Purchase Orders in SAP
  • Overseeing full life-cycle contract activities for the assigned commodities
  • Collaborating with corporate legal to initiate contracts in accordance with business objectives
  • Facilitating Non-Disclosure Agreement to ensure Ashland’s intellectual property is protected
  • Qualifying new vendors and service providers to support the business needs
  • Engaging in continuous improvement initiatives to mitigate business and operational risks
  • Extracting and analyzing spend data by various criteria from SAP
  • Facilitating RFP and preparing bid packages according to engineering specs. and business requirement
  • Managing Outline Agreements in SAP through administrative support
  • Updating contract changes in Open Text database through administrative support
  • Resolving outstanding invoices through collaborated effort with Accounts Payable
  • Preparing various procurement and project status report and presenting them to management
  • Facilitating meetings and establish timeline according to project schedule
  • Representing as Corporate Agent: Ensuring Regulatory Compliance and Corporate Policies are enforced
  • Ensuring strict compliance to Ashland’s Zero Incident Culture and Responsible Care Guidelines

**This job is based on a ladder structure and the job level (salary) will be determined by the quantity and quality of your experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business with a minimum of 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience in a large company with a fast-paced environment
  • Must have manufacturing plant MRO purchasing experience.
  • Chemical industry experience in a procurement role is preferred
  • Demonstrated negotiations and customer service experience required
  • Ability to manage many purchase requisitions at one time to meet customer timelines is required
  • Working knowledge of plant storerooms with SAP MRP (or similar ERP) controls is required
  • Supply Chain/procurement field with SAP experience strongly desired
  • Analytical and strategic thought process expected
  • Versed in financial analysis with experience in building cost matrix
  • Capable of drafting moderate non-routine contractual agreements with legal guidance
  • Self-starter: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Able to communicate effectively and interact with personnel at all levels
  • Strong computer skills and intuitive to learn new software and programs
  • Team player with the ability to work amongst cross-functional teams
